Playing xbox games on the xbox 360?

To play xbox games on the xbox 360 i understand you need to download a file from microsoft and burn a cd, and load the update onto the xbox 360. however i hear you need a hdd to save the update on the cd to the xbox 360. well i don't have one, but i do have a memory stick, is it possible for the memory stick to act as the hdd so i don't need to buy a hdd? (ps - with an internet connection and xbox live would i still need a hdd for the update to save onto the xbox 360?)
Answer
All game files including updates are saved onto a harddrive. as far as saving it unto a memory card it all depends upon how big the file size is for the update and whether it will fit onto your card. id say try to save the update unto the card and if that doenst work i would recommend buying a cheap hdd of the internet for about 50-100 dollars as that would make things all around easier for you to save e thing onto one hdd.
