I can not start windows xp normally. when xp starts it states the following: *windows was not shutdown properly due to an unexpected power failure or shutdown *windows was shutdown etc i then have a 20 second count down to decide weather to start in safe mode etc. i then choose start windows in safe mode and then xp logo comes and then does nothing. what do i have to do start windows xp? how do i reinstall windows xp again? i do not have a windows xp disc. will i also lose my work if i reinstall windows xp?

If comes up with options on how to start up choose normal or the last know good configuration that worked if your computer came with a system restore disk (this will usually include the operating system the computer was installed with) use that and see if that helps if not take your computer to be repaired cos it may have a problem with the hard drive if you can log in to your computer back-up all your files on to an external hard drive the important files as they may be lost perblokeently
