Xp or hard drive problem?

Hi, theres a bit of a story to this but ill make it as clear as i can. first problem was when i booted pc up it keeped freezing on the xp loading screen. was told to do a xp repair from disk, but when asked for admin password on setup, it said my password was wrong even know i know it 100%. i have to hard drives c: and d: drive c has the current xp system that i was having problems with, so i did a clean install on drive d: pc is up and running now, but i now cant access anything in drive c: even know it see's it. if i click on the drive it says access denied. i have quite a few important files on that drive, if somebody can help me access it, that would be great please help! thanks

This is a permission problem. although you may belong to the administrator group you may have to acquire permission to run things. if you have windox home edition then you will have reboot in safe mode and login as the adminstrator. then use my computer to access folders and right click a folder and select properties and then security. check who the owner of the folder is and add yourself to this group.
