Xp re-installation?
I'll try to keep it as simple as possible here. a while ago i got a laptop which had windows xp home pre-installed. a short time after, we bought xp home for our desktop pc. the problem i now have is that i'd like to
clear out my laptop and start from scratch - after loads
of software installation & removal it is
getting a little slow.
since my laptop came with xp installed already, there wasn't a cd to use. however, i have
got the cd we used to install it on our desktop. can i therefore use the same cd with the product key on the bottom of my laptop or would the cd be only assigned to the key that it came with?
dont suggest getting a new comp or upgrading to vista because that's beyond my means at the moment!
Answer
Hi
yes you can use the cd you have
and use the product key from your laptop. however there is
usually no problem with using the product key that came with the cd, xp can be installed on 2 machines with no problems.
the product key is unique, the cd isn't
.
