Microsoft QuickTips

I've been using ms word for a while and yet recentley when i click on the icon to launch it, the larger 'icon type box' appears saying word etc yet the programme seldom starts. the revolving circle symbol keeps turning but nothing else happens. i've un-installed office 2003, re-installed it and it is exactly the same, all other office programmes run as they should. have scanned for virus but found nothing. have tried to launch word from old word documents stored on pc but the same thing happens. also i cannot close the larger 'icon box' which shows after clicking on the launch icon. even when i go to task man ager word is not shown, so i've to re-boot to clear the larger 'icon box'. i am walking vista, on a laptop which used to run word fine. i've tried restore to a known nice point to no avail. i've run out of ideas and i am not to 'up' on computers. any nice advice would be most welcome. thank you. ps don't know if this helps solve problem but have discovered that word will run when walking windows in safe mode using normal word icon

As for the above post (ouch!) someone dont like microsoft! ignore, they os's that have been posted are good os's but ms is so much easier for standard users like yourself.. as for you problem, its normally caused by a registry problem. ms tends to not uninstall things totally, its a pain i know.. solution: firstly completly uninstall office/word look thru your hdd for any files/folders that might be left! butcher! i hate doing it but sometimes you just have to.. delete e thing that its there.. (back up if u feel the need) now the hard part! if u have office or other ms programs be carful and always back up... open regedit from u vista search bar.. open hkey_local_machine----> software----->microsoft deleted the ms word or office registry files! like i said its best to back up first as if u mess up u can restore the bins later.. it shouldnt but better to be safe.. (defrag at this point if u have a low end system) reinstall. (use a different path name if u wanna be double sure) this will install the program and update the registry again (thats what the problem is. the registry is saying, its installed its not installed, thus ur computer is confused and dont know what to do) it will work fine if u follow this.. it may look hard but its not. email me on my profile if u need help with this and i will talk u thru it
