Is vista worth the billions invested by microsoft, or has it been a bad investment?

Due to vista's poor reception and continued debloked for windows xp, microsoft is allowing continued sales of windows xp. an unexpectedly high number of vista users have downgraded their operating systems, with blokey having reverted their own vista installs or even installing xp (or other operating systems) onto computers which were preloaded with vista. a study conducted by changewave in january 2008, shows that the percentage of customers who are " satisfied" with vista is dramatically lower than other operating systems, with vista home basic at 15% and vista home premium 27%, compared to the approximately 52% who say they're " satisfied" with windows xp and the 81% for mac os x leopard. what do you think? is vista worth the billions invested by microsoft, or has it been a bad investment? @ retry: hmmm. if you know vista then you will know that vista xp1 runs approx 10% slower than xp sp3. you will also know that vista sp1 'breaks' a large number of antivirus software and as yet unknown other software. @ simon k: i only knew about the following: bitdefender av and internet security 10 fujitsu shock sensor 2.1.0.0 jiangmin kv antivirus 10 and 2008 trend micro internet security 2008 zone alarm security suite 7.1 the michigan times reader personal firewall 2007 novell zcm agent 10.0.x your list is more comprehensive than mine so that is even worse. the fact that not blokey people have heard of all of them is neither here nor there. if you do use any them then it is a problem, isn't it?
Answer
I reckon it is significant that a lot of pc and laptop dealers are offering free xp 'downgrades' so you don't have to use the pre-installed vista! mind you, it was similar when xp came out - my faculty stuck with 2000 and only upgraded last year! microsoft seem to unleash untested betas as finished products and let joe public find the bugs for them!
