Vista problems?
Is it me? or is vista a load of rubbish??
i've a hp ipaq 2490b os5.0 which will not syc with vista windows mail, calender, or anything useful on vista. been told by microsoft to export calender to outlook and syc with that _ superb! also vista will not find / recognise my dvd burner, tried all the usual ie scan for hardware changes, update drivers etc (drivers ok by the way for some thing that doesn't exist) and short of throwing the pc out of the window i'm at a loss!
does anyone have any ideas that might be able to get me to sync with my ipaq the programmes on vista, and anyway to be able to find my dvd burner? also does microsoft have any plans to issue a sp to deal with these (and blokey other) problems with vista?
blokey thanks for any help you may be able to give me.
Answer
Sorry, know nothing about the 'ipaq' or whatever. but i did have exactly the same problem with my dvd burner. try the following:
look in device bloke
ager under 'storage controllers'. you will probably have more than one - a microsoft one and another one. do not uninstall the microsoft one. uninstall the other one and tick the 'delete driver' box if it exists. then uninstall the existing dvd burner driver.
now restart vista. the correct drivers should be installed automatically.
at the very least you will be no worse off than you were before. if this doesn't work, try installing the specific drivers that came with your dvd burner, or google your burner model and see if there's
a compatibility fix.
good luck!
